The Christian Culture Music Festival 2010 will be held 19th to 21st November 2010. We have issued our 2010 programme.
It seeks to bring together Communities and Churches in the East Coast Region of Yorkshire together by providing opportunity for individuals and groups to make and appreciate our musical heritage past, present and future. It provides a focussed event, which is accessible to all regardless of race, creed or culture. By means of the festival we are seeking to encourage talent, improve skills and provide increased opportunities for participants to demonstrate these attributes through performance regardless of their level of their current attainment. By linking the festival with schools and local churches we are seeking to build on current relationships with the local communities and make available resources for performance and support.
Much musical activity already takes place within the region both at a local level and regional level. By means of the festival it is hoped that many of those who already participate in such groups will join in this East Coast Eisteddfod and by so doing raise awareness of their ongoing organisations and music making. In addition it is hoped that new groups will be formed as a result of taking part in the festival. So local choirs, choral societies, amateur operatic societies, orchestra’s (all types), brass bands, jazz bands, music groups, bell ringers, songwriters and individual performers of all ages are welcomed.
In general the event is built around a non-competitive programme of music making, however, a special feature of the first festival was a competition to find East Coast Young Musicians of the Year. As well as the classical categories of voice, piano, strings, brass, wind and percussion there was an opportunity for keyboards, guitars, and composition of all styles, which are so popular with young musicians of today.
The Festival is held in Bridlington, East Yorkshire and is supported by the East Yorkshire Council Bridlington Renaissance Committee. The Town offers excellent facilities for the many and varies performance programme with a large choice of hotels and guesthouses for those wishing to stay. The recently newly refurbished Spa complex provided the backdrop for the culminating events.
Individuals, groups and societies wishing to participate in the festival programme in 2010, or simply to register an interest should contact the Conference Director.
